Winter is when this matters: one hard frost can kill tender plants that took months to grow. Horticultural fleece is the quick fix, rolled over a bed on a cold night, while plant protection fleece covers slip over shrubs and pots and stay on all season.

Roll or cover?

Choose a 30gsm roll of frost fleece for plants in beds and rows: cut it to length and peg it down. Choose 50gsm plant cover bags for individual shrubs, pots and trees that need protection through the winter. A garden fleece roll is also handy for early sowings in spring.

Using fleece well

Cover plants before dusk on frosty nights so the fleece traps the day's ground warmth, and weigh or peg the edges down. Remove it on mild days so plants get light and air. For weed control under gravel or beds, see our heavy duty weed control membrane.
