Choosing length and kit

Measure the total length of the rows or beds you want to water. A 30m soaker hose (sometimes called a leaky hose) covers a typical vegetable plot; the 100m drip pipe suits larger gardens. A garden irrigation kit with irrigation pipe and fittings lets you branch water to several beds from one tap.

Getting even watering

Run soaker hoses at low pressure; too much pressure pushes water out unevenly. Peg the hose flat on the soil, cover it with mulch to cut evaporation, and water early in the day.
